So I did wind up in Kansai but not stationed out of Osaka. Brutally tiring. Lots of walking in crazy heat. It was somewhat affordable though so that is good.
I went to Kyoto the first day and saw some temples. Then I went to Nara and did some sightseeing. After that, Osaka for a short bit. Did not get to see nearly enough of it. I will have to go back.
I’m on Obon break as of today. National Japanese holiday where most people are off. I will be off for a week. Going to Osaka for some sightseeing.

Still don’t have reliable internet but did sign up for Yahoo! BB last weekend. End of August is when I will get it. I will also get a ‘free’ camera then too. A compact P&S 10MP that I pretty much won’t use. Still also don’t have my computer yet either. Ya. Fuck you Lenovo and your mother.
Fucking Lenovo. Like it wasn’t bad enough they fucked me over on the shipping date. Now they release a T61p with WUXGA. Mother fuckers. And it is priced right and has a better video adapter. There goes another 2k I have to spend. If only it came in IPS WUXGA…. and if only the fucking option will exist when I order one next year.
So I have finally moved into my apt. The first day, I couldn’t find it. I had to track down a drawn map made by the previous occupant: the person I am replacing. My apt. is not as small as they are in Tokyo so that is a pleasant surprise. There is however no convenience store nearby at all.
I’ve been sick with a cold/cough since I got here. It flared up again pretty bad this week. But I seem to be getting better finally. Hopefully I will be healthy soon.
I don’t expect to get an Internet connection for another month. I need my foreigner card first. I get that in… just over a week. Then I can place an order for an Internet connection. I hope I can bum a connection off my coworker until then. I will know this Friday.
I still haven’t got my laptop shipped to me yet. Will try to get that lined up later today.
I have this terrible granny bike. Tires were out of air and I scored a 100 yen pump. It worked. But it is a bitch since I am weak as hell.
training started. Internet hard to find. okayama is ok. maid internet cafes exist here. whooo hoo. not many pictures yet. the garden and castle were underwhelming.
Bloody Lenovo. The assjerks. I ordered a new Thinkpad 5-14 and the current shipping date is late July. I need the bloody thing before I leave the country. So now. I will not have a laptop before I ship out. They wont even ship it to Japan. And now I have to figure out how to not get taxed on my laptop by the Japanese.
I can’t buy one in Japan because the cost is absurd. I might cancel the damn order and buy a el-cheapo 500 dollar thing to hold me over.
